Life After College

Tomorrow is a rather big day. Tomorrow we move my little brother into his dorm room for his freshman year of college. Woah. Where did time go? Not so much "I can't believe Chris is old enough to go to college" but "Wait a minute- I'm old enough to have a brother in college!" I can still remember MY first move in, my first roommates, moving down the hall two weeks later, my first musical, meeting some of my very best friends.

My very first class was Sight Singing and Ear Training. It was awful. It didn't really get better as time went on. Such is life. I passed all four semesters and that's what counts.

I joined the cast of Showboat to escape the confines of my room and my awful roommates. That started my Musical Theater career; it was the first and last time I would perform on stage. It was, however, my jumpstart into my most exciting career as Stage Manager. Woot.

Showboat also brought some interesting people into my life. And aren't I glad I have them. =)

After Christmas, school settled into a fairly easy routine. Class. Eat. Goof off. Repeat.

Man, has life changed since that year. I have since seen the inside of a cat. Be thankful there are no pictures. Gross.

I never thought I'd say it, but I'm really going to miss school this year. While I still have no diploma, and I'm technically still a student, no class for me! Instead, I have to move to the wilds of the mountains to do my internship. No classes, no caf, few familiar faces...  Scary. =/

So, here's to the start of the next chapter of my life: Life After College
But first, a few parting thoughts to my dear Alma Mater...

To the "Living with Alligators" poster in Russell West: Thank you for the constant reminder not to pet alligators.
To Jimmy, the Caf Guy: Thank you for not making Philly Cheese Stakes everyday. I'd weight 1000 lbs.
To the weird looking Duck in the reflection pond: Just how long HAVE you been living there?
To my crazy Korean piano teacher: Let's face it- I'm never going to use those Chopin pieces in Music Therapy. My piano skills with classical music are not therapeutic in any way.
To the Security Guards: Don't quit your day jobs. Unless you're on the day staff. Then you may consider quitting.
To the Creepy Janitor with the Gerry Curl: Ew.
To Those People Who Say We Don't Have a Flooding Problem: Try visiting on a rainy day.

And to all my friends: Thanks for making my life all it is today. I couldn't have done it without you.

Rainy Afternoon

It's been awhile since I just took some pictures and today's rainshower seemed like a good opportunity...

The Happiest Place on Earth

And it's not Disney. Now, Disney World holds a place near and dear to my heart, but an a scale of one to awesome, it's been ousted, at least for this summer. My Number Two rated trip of the summer (because, really, you can't out-do Italy.) is...

The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter in Universal's Island of Adventure. Be jealous- I have been to Hogwarts. I have had both Pumpkin Juice and Butterbeer (which is amazing, by the way).

I have been to Honeydukes, Zonko's, Dervish and Bangs, and Olivanders.

I have eaten at The Three Broomsticks.

And I must say, I was more or less in full on geek mode, but so was pretty much everyone else there, so it was ok. =)

Also, the new ride, The Forbidden Journey, is awesome.
If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend visiting at least once. It's straight out of the books.

Home Again, Home Again

I have returned from the great and beautiful country of Italy! Hooray! Even though I hate flying and sitting on a bus isn't my favorite activity, these I gladly exchange for such a once in a life time trip. Cause if and when I make it back, I'm sure this trip will be unlike any other. For one, we had the opportunity to sing in some Amazing places- San Marco's, St Francis' Basilica, the coliseum in Verona- just to name a few. And we had a great group of people with us. Concert singers, the odd SOS (Oh, Babs...), and, of course, Jairy C. Hunter. Because you can't celebrate International Jairy C. Hunter Day without him. I shall now entertain you with a picture or two, but for more "eye candy", hop over to my Facebook page. And these are just a few of the 650+... No one wants to see that many pictures except my mom.

So then, a few favorites.

.
View from the plane as we flew over London.

View from the window not facing a pine tree.

The lovely city of Siena.

You have shamed the Church. You and your naked shoulders.

Lots of picturesque little alleys like this one.

Pretty courtyards.

And now due to the slow loading of pictures by my computer and Blogger... I'm going to bed. For more photo entertainment, check FB.
Goodnight, World.

Final Countdown...

Leaving tomorrow. On a jet plane. (Lame, I know. Oh well.) Quite excited. Haven't started packing, still. Shall be back on the 16th, look out for an absurd amount of pictures and a few unexpected guests. Love to all!

48 Hours

So, leave for Italy on Sunday! Haven't started to pack- haven't even started laundry. Whatev. That's what Saturday's for. =)
Chris graduated yesterday, tell me that's not weird. He's also going to CSU but lucky for him, he at least knows my friends when he gets there. I knew no one! How nice it must be to be a younger sibling. I wouldn't know.
Having lunch with Tiffany today at our most favorite of all Mexican eateries. Also have to run errands.
Now you're updated on the borning-ness of my life.

What's in a Word?

So, I leave for Italy soon, and on these fun-filled trips across the pond, a certain member of the faculty at my school and I like to see who can use an absurd word the most. Last time was "Sasquatch" and I won, thank you very much. This trip does not yet have a fun word, but I'm looking for a good one. A few contenders are the following:

Askew, disarrayed, or disorderly.

 Gobbledygook

A 20th century term used to describe nonsensical language like that used by government bureaucrats

Cahoots

Partnership; comradeship.

Vaccimulgence

The act of milking of cows

Defenestration

A noun meaning the throwing of a person or thing out a window

Higgledy-Piggledy

Askew, without prior planning, or every which way

 Mustachioed

The state of having a mustache

 Monkeyshines

Useful when "shenanigans" just doesn't cut it

 Monkeyshines

Useful when "shenanigans" just doesn't cut it

Pogonotrophy

Fancy word for the cultivation of a beard

Prestigiator

Fancy word for a juggler.

in other news, Christie and Ben came for a lovely visit. They make me smile. =)
